We expect the upcoming 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid to be as thrifty and powerful as ever, helping you achieve your work goals in a very modern way. Although Ford hasn’t announced all of the details of its upcoming F-150, our 2023 preview is here to help you get an idea of what to expect.
What’s new for the 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid?
We don’t expect many big changes for the upcoming F-150. You should still be able to add the PowerBoost hybrid engine — which combines the truck’s most powerful engine with an electric motor — to any of the main F-150 trim models with a SuperCrew cabin.
Why choose the 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid?
When you add the optional PowerBoost hybrid powertrain to your F-150, you’re gaining incredible fuel efficiency. Depending on equipment, F-150 trucks with the hybrid engine earn up to 25 mpg combined (25 city/25 highway). In the full-size truck segment, you won’t find a more efficient option.
But this hybrid powertrain also provides major muscle. The current F-150 hybrid can tow up to 12,700 pounds, depending on body style and equipment. Max payloads currently reach 2,120 pounds.
The 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid powertrain will likely include:
- Turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine with a battery-powered electric motor (430 hp, 570 lb-ft)
- Hybrid electronic 10-speed automatic transmission
- Rear-wheel drive
- Optional four-wheel drive
How can I configure a 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid?
Since it was introduced for the 2021 model year, the F-150 PowerBoost V6 hybrid powertrain has been available as an option for any F-150 with a crew cabin. We expect the 2023 Ford F-150 to offer the same arrangement, giving you the option of adding this thrifty powertrain to any of the six main trim models: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.
Being able to transform any trim model into an F-150 hybrid gives you a lot of versatility. The lineup starts with the work-friendly XL model, helping you save money on a hybrid truck. As you move up the list, you’ll find greater and greater luxury, with everything from leather upholstery to Ford’s new Tailgate Work Surface on offer.
How much can a 2023 Ford F-150 hybrid cost?
The answer to this one is harder to divine. In the past, you could add the PowerBoost hybrid V6 to any F-150 Crew Cab truck for an up-charge between $2,500 and $4,495, depending on which trim model you selected.
At the time of this writing, though, the market has been going a little bit crazy, with prices going up and down according to supply chain issues. Therefore, we can’t make any solid predictions about exactly how much the upcoming F-150 hybrid will cost. We will let you know when we hear more, however!
