Two of the most popular brands in America, Ford and Honda have built two of the best crossovers in the market, and make sure to provide everything the automobile manufacturers are known for. In order to compete with the CR-V, Ford has built out the Escape to be sleek, classy and fun, with a light bar coming standard on upper level trims. Not only that but as previously mentioned it comes with a PHEV option and a hybrid option, something that is not common in the segment. The two vehicles are both impressive but the Ford Escape comes out on top as the better car for consumers.

The Ford Escape is better than the Honda CR-V, because it offers more engine options than the Honda, in the form of a Hybrid or PHEV option. While Honda does offer a hybrid powertrain it does not offer a PHEV. The Ford Escape also offers a wider array of trims, making it possible for more people to find exactly what they want between the base and more expensive creature comforts. The Ford Escape is also cheaper, saving you about $1,000 - $2,000 per trim, for example the top tier Escape starts at around $38,000 and the top tier Honda CR-V starts at around $40,000. This means that you can get better add-ons for your vehicle giving you more bang for your buck.

The Honda CR-V is slightly bigger than the Ford Escape, it is longer by about four inches. The Ford Escape’s dimensions are 181 inches long by 74 inches wide by 66 inches tall. The Honda CR-V’s dimensions are 185 inches long by 74 inches wide by 66 inches tall. As you can see they have the same amount of headspace and width, but the Honda CR-V has a little bit more legroom, while both have the same amount of cargo space. Although the Honda CR-V has a little bit more space than the Escape, the Ford has a classier interior with a larger infotainment screen which feels more modern than the CR-V’s cell phone sized infotainment area. Both vehicles only offer darker interior schemes with black leather, cloth or vinyl available, this may be unfortunate for those who live in more temperate areas, but it is nice as far as cleaning goes.

Both cars are equally reliable, although Honda has been known as the most reliable car brand out there, when treated properly the Ford Escape can last just as long as the Honda CR-V. The two vehicles have been known to last up until 200,000 miles but keep in mind each has their own specific problems as they age. The important part of getting either of these cars is proper maintenance, when treated well most cars can take you well into 200,000 miles.
