2023 Ford Mustang Mach-e vs Audi Q4 e-tron

Since recharging an EV battery takes a bit of planning, you’ll want your model to provide a lengthy driving range. In this case, the Mustang Mach-E takes the lead. Each trim model has a slightly different driving range. The California Route 1 is the best of the bunch, with a 312-mile range. But even the most powerful trim model, the GT Performance Edition, gives the competition a run for its money, going for 260 miles between charges.

There are two Audi Q4 e-tron powertrains, the single-motor 40 powertrain, which achieves the max range of 265 miles. The dual-motor 50 powertrain has a range of 236 or 242 miles, depending on whether you choose the square back or Sportback body style, respectively.

Each Mustang Mach-E trim model delivers slightly different output figures. However, each is designed for a swift, agile ride. The fastest of the bunch, the GT Performance Edition, will get your heart going with 480 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque.

Of the Audi Q4 e-tron’s two powertrain options, the all-wheel-drive 50 is the most powerful. However, it’s not nearly as fun to drive, producing 295 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque.

With standard leather upholstery and a very handsome interior, the Audi A4 e-tron very much looks the part of a luxury EV. The standard list of features also includes a panoramic sunroof and an LED interior lighting package. Higher trim models add extra upscale items, including driver’s seat memory settings and noise-canceling acoustic front windows.

Of course, the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E has just about all of the same luxury offerings, except for one. Instead of the genuine article, Ford’s EV sticks to vegan leather upholstery. But this seating material feels supple and smooth, and it adds to the cabin’s upscale vibe. Other standard features include a power-adjustable driver’s seat and dual-zone automatic climate control. All but the base Mustang Mach-E feature a swanky panoramic fixed-glass roof and heated front seats.

With a bigger touchscreen and longer list of standard safety aids, the Mustang Mach-E has the advantage here. Every trim model includes Ford’s latest infotainment system, SYNC 4, with a 15.5-inch touchscreen and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Even built-in navigation comes standard, along with a wireless smartphone charging pad. All but the base Mustang Mach-E come with Ford’s BlueCruise system, semi autonomous driving technology that works on pre-mapped divided highways.

The Audi Q4 e-tron comes with a 11.6-inch infotainment screen, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. However, the wireless smartphone charging pad and built-in navigation aren’t standard equipment. The Q4 e-tron comes standard with some safety aids, including forward collision warning and blind-spot monitoring. However, unlike the Mustang Mach-E, it makes you pay extra for adaptive cruise control.
