The redesigned 2023 Ford Super Duty has finally made its official debut! While we still don’t know all of the details concerning these heavy-duty trucks, we do know that they’ll deliver more power than ever. And they’re also going to roll out many of the tech upgrades that originally debuted with last year’s redesigned F-150.
What’s new for the 2023 Ford Super Duty?
These Super Duty trucks are all-new, redesigned from the inside out. The first thing you’ll notice is their new exterior styling, including wide, flashy grilles and wrap-around LED headlamps. Inside, you’ll find an accommodating new cabin design and a wealth of new tech features. These heavy-duty trucks also introduce a new standard engine and a high-output version of their trusty Power Stroke diesel engine.
Which powertrains are available for the 2023 Ford Super Duty?
The redesigned Super Duty trucks will feature a new standard engine: a gas-powered 6.8-liter V8. And shoppers will once again be able to choose an even bigger, 7.3-liter gas-powered V8 engine or a tow-friendly 6.7-liter diesel V8 engine. All engines will once again be paired with the Super Duty’s hefty 10-speed automatic transmission.
Ford says that a high-output version of the Power Stroke diesel V8 engine will be available, perfect for drivers who want to tow the heaviest possible payloads. However, the automaker hasn’t revealed any horsepower or torque specs for any of its Super Duty engines just yet.
The 2023 Super Duty powertrain options will include:
- 6.8-liter gas-powered V8 engine
- 7.3L gas-powered V8
- 6.7L Power Stroke diesel V8 engine
- 10-speed automatic transmission
- Rear-wheel drive
- Optional four-wheel drive
What else do I need to know about the 2023 Ford Super Duty?
These heavy-duty trucks are more tech-savvy than they’ve ever been! From here on out, the base Super Duty XL trim model will include an 8-inch central touchscreen, and higher trim levels get a 12-inch touchscreen interface. A new 12-inch digital instrument cluster is also available, which you can customize to display the data you want to see. These trucks will also offer four USB ports and an optional wireless smartphone charger, so you and your crew can keep your device batteries ready for action.
The 2023 Ford Super Duty is also the first truck to offer built-in 5G capability via AT&T’s 5G network. What does that mean for you? If you choose to activate these services, you can count on very fast navigation, mapping, and music downloads (compared to the slower 4G network).
This updated cabin also offers brand new conveniences. The available Max Recline front seats fold nearly flat, so you can nap between cross-country driving shifts. And there’s a new slot in the center console to hold your tablet upright, making it easier to use when your Super Duty is parked. And upper trim models now offer an 18-speaker B&O Unleashed Sound premium audio system. Finally, Alexa hands-free controls are now available alongside wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
And that’s not all! The redesigned Super Duty trucks also roll out features we’ve previously seen on the redesigned F-150, such as the onboard cargo bed scales and 360-degree trailer camera system. Add the Pro Power Onboard system to your Super Duty and you can take a power generator wherever you go, no matter how far off the grid.
