It looks like a 2024 Ford Maverick Lightning might be in the works! If so, it would be an all-electric version of Ford’s latest innovation, the first-ever compact truck. Here’s a look at what this small EV truck might offer.
What is the 2024 Ford Maverick Lightning?
The Maverick Lightning will be an electric version of Ford’s compact truck. At least, that’s what we assume based on the name. After all, the Maverick is the name of Ford’s new compact pickup, and the Lightning part seems to be borrowed from the F-150 Lightning, Ford’s full-size EV truck.
Assumptions aside, though, we don’t know much more about the Maverick Lightning than its name. When that changes, we’ll update this space with much better answers to your burning questions!
How much will the 2024 Ford Maverick Lightning tow and haul?
The short answer is that, as of this writing, we have no idea! With its hybrid powertrain, the current Maverick can tow max loads of 2,000 pounds. Use the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and that figure goes up to 4,000 pounds. All of the current Maverick trucks can haul payloads of up to 1,500 pounds. Hopefully the EV version of this compact truck will offer similar capabilities!
Other than the fact that it will be all-electric, we don’t know anything about the upcoming Maverick Lightning’s powertrain. If it’s like other EVs, though, this little Ford truck will likely offer a single- or dual-motor setup, the latter of which would mean all-wheel drive.
Will the 2024 Ford Maverick Lightning be a luxury truck?
There’s no doubt that there will be a luxury version of the Maverick Lightning available. We suspect this EV truck’s lineup may be structured more like that of the F-150 Lightning, which offers a variety of trim models with varying levels of interior luxury. As a smaller truck, though, the Maverick Lightning probably won’t be quite as luxurious as its full-size counterpart.
That said, we expect the higher trim levels to deliver some very upscale features. You’ll be able to outfit this compact EV truck with leather upholstery, heated seats, and maybe even a power moonroof.
We expect lower trim models to be impressive in their own right, too. The latest Ford infotainment system, SYNC 4, should be standard equipment, including a touchscreen interface and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These trucks will also help you avoid trouble, with standard features like blind-spot monitoring and forward collision mitigation.
When will the 2024 Ford Maverick Lightning be available?
We’re still waiting to hear any details concerning the Maverick Lightning, and we think it will be a while before Ford announces a release date. Until then, though, keep checking back with us. We’ll update this space with any information we learn along the way!
