Will there be a 60th Anniversary Mustang?
Yes, there will be a 60th anniversary Mustang. Ford has unveiled this special edition Mustang in 2024. This Mustang celebrates the long and successful heritage of the muscle car that first debuted in 1964. Only available on 1,965 cars, making this special edition a real treat for those who get their hands on one.
The 2025 Mustang GT Premium with the 60th anniversary package will be available in late 2024, with the other trims in the lineup.
What is the 60th Anniversary update for the Mustang?
The 60th anniversary updates the GT Premium and is available for the GT Premium coupe and convertible, with automatic or manual transmissions. Coming with a unique serialized dash plaque, and exclusive exterior features that pay homage to the original design of the 1965 model, giving the owner a blast from the past. In 2025 the Mustang stays true to its more recent purpose, but still delivers the classic look and feel.
The 60th anniversary will come in three exterior colors, a classic Wimbledon White, a Race Red, and Vapor Blue. For the interior there’s also three colors available, Space Gray, Carmine Red, and Black Onyx.
The 60th anniversary Mustang will come with 20-inch, dark gravity gray five spoke wheels, with a red stamped aluminum center cap that pays homage to the original center caps on the 1965 Mustang. The Mustang also gets smoked Nite Pony headlights and a mesh grille, which is meant to be a call back to the Mustangs that were built in early 1964. (While they were never officially considered to be a 1964 model, they were built before 1965 and had separate engines.)
Ford has decided they should pay homage to those first few Mustangs no matter what year they were made because they paved the way for where the Mustang is at now, and there’s no doubt that without the 64/65 trims the legacy of Ford and the Mustang would be in a different place, if not nonexistent.
What is the 60th Anniversary Mustang horsepower?
The 60th anniversary Mustang has 480 horsepower. This anniversary package is available on a select number of GT Premium Mustangs. The GT Premium features the 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, capable of outputting 480 horsepower and 486 lb-ft of torque, giving this unique Mustang power that the first model could only dream of.
While it’s still early, we can expect the Mustang GT Premium to have similar performance from 2024, at 0-60 MPH in 4.2 seconds, and a quarter mile at 12.5 seconds.
For the gas mileage you can expect somewhere in the ballpark of 20 combined MPG, with 16 MPG in the city, and 24 MPG on the highway.
