- The F-Series Super Duty recently just went through an update in 2023, and most likely will not receive a refresh for another 4 to 5 years.

How much does the Ford Super Duty XLT cost?
The Ford Super Duty XLT starts at $51,105 MSRP, this trim adds a few more practical features that the XL trim lacks. These features include a rear view camera, automatic emergency braking, lane departure alerts, 8-way power driver seat, integrated trailer brake controller, roll stability control, trailer sway control, automatic high beams, and an 8-inch infotainment center.
Another important feature is that the XLT comes standard with 4x4 but comes with the more powerful 7.3 liter V8 engine with 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque that can tow up to 18,200 pounds. This is an improvement over the base 6.8 liter V8 engine which has the same power ratings but can only tow up to 17,300 pounds.
While it comes with a gas powered engine as standard, the XLT has two available power stroke engines. Both engines displace 6.7 liters and come turbocharged, but the regular Power Stroke makes for 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound feet of torque. The High Output Power Stroke diesel makes for 500 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque and can tow up to 40,000 pounds with a gooseneck trailer.
Being able to tow 22,800 pounds with the standard Power Stroke you are still sure to have enough power to get the job done. The XLT is one of the few trims we think worth upgrading to, the XL is remarkably spartan and does not have any of the safety features of the XLT unless you purchase a safety features package.
Is Ford changing the Super Duty in 2024?
No, Ford has not changed the Super Duty in 2024. The vehicle only recently went through an update in 2023 and now resembles the F-150 after it went through its own update. The Super Duty has only received minor updates going into 2024 some of these include that the base XL 6.8 liter V8 is now flex-fuel capable, the addition of a couple new bed packages, and payload measurement tech is available on XL and XLT models now.
Most of Ford’s changes across its lineup have recently involved making more options readily available sooner on trims and or removing anything superfluous. These changes reflect Ford’s goals to continue to make the best selling truck in America but also to make vehicles that more individuals can drive and at better prices.
What is the Ford XLT Premium Package?
The Ford XLT Premium Package is a group of features that upgrades not only the appearance of your HD truck but also adds plenty of functional features to make it worth the extra $4,150. The first feature is a 360 degree surround view camera which makes parking, and trailering that much easier. It also adds the tow technology package which now includes calculation of trailer weight.
Beyond a few more functional additions in the Premium Package there are a couple of features that are purely for luxury and aesthetics. Heated front seats are added as well as power telescoping side view mirrors, and a remote start system. Body color handles provide an extra level of sophistication making the Premium Package a great addition to your Super Duty XLT.
